Someone once said: “Troubles are opportunities to grow, to make us better, not bitter. Rightly used, we can learn from them not to repeat our own mistakes. Once freed from them we are better equipped to solve our other life's problems.”  We are never comfortable when we are in the midst of our problems, and it is very hard to accept that we are going through  them for our own good. It sometime make us think; “We don't want that cheese anymore, we just want out of the trap!” It is especially bad when we know that it is probably a bad decision on our part that has got us into the situation in the first place. However, there are many instances where life hands us trouble that is not our fault, and we have to struggle through these  difficult circumstances. The Bible provides us with some wise counsel on this matter. James 1:2-4 tells us “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have it's full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” And it continues in verses 5-8; “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” Let us hope for the attitude of the Psalmist in Psalm 27:13-14 : “I believe that I shall look on the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!  Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”  Let us pray for guidance and trust God as we face into life's difficulties.
